Lion attacks 35 year old handler in Nigeria.

A lion at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Wildlife Park in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has killed its handler, Babaji Daule. The tragic incident occurred early Saturday morning, September 28, 2024, when Daule, a 35-year-old from Bauchi State, approached the lion's enclosure without securing the locks and barricade.

According to reports, the Chief Security Officer of the park notified authorities at around 7:40 AM about the attack. Daule’s negligence allowed the lion to escape and fatally injure him, particularly around the neck.

Emergency responders removed the victim’s body, which was taken to the mortuary at the State Hospital in Ijaye, Abeokuta. In response to the incident, the lion was shot to release its grip on the handler.
