Sam George, the MP representing Ningo-Prampram, has announced his intention to fund a naked protest against illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey, as a bold statement against the government's ineffective response to the crisis.
This initiative follows his participation in a similar protest in 2023, where he raised awareness about the detrimental effects of galamsey on Ghana's ecosystems and water resources.
Earlier today,he tweeted:
⚫🟡Count me in. Citizens, no matter how uncomfortable, must be allowed to have a voice. I'd put my money where my heart and mouth is. Let's go! 🦁💪🏾#FreeTheCitzens
George has been outspoken regarding the rise of illegal mining during the current administration, claiming that the government is ignoring the severe environmental consequences associated with these activities.
His upcoming protest seeks to highlight the ongoing crisis and urge the government to take more significant action against galamsey, which has caused extensive pollution and the degradation of Ghana's resources.
What's your say in this?
