UDS Central SRC/LNUGS Officially Hand Over To New Executives.



The handing over ceremony for the 15th Central Students' Representative Council (SRC) and the Local National Union of Ghana Students (LNUGS) took place on September 19, 2024, at the Dr. Andani Andan Academic Board Chamber in the UDS Central Administration Block. Key attendees included Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Elliot Alhassan, Dean of Students Dr. Alhassan Musah, Vice Dean of Students for the Tamale Campus Dr. Umar Haruna, Vice Dean for the Nyankpala Campus Dr. Ing. Linda Laari, and other senior university officials.

In his welcome address, Dean of Students Dr. Alhassan Musah congratulated the incoming executives on their electoral success and praised the outgoing team for their significant contributions to the University for Development Studies. He urged the SRC and LNUGS to consider electoral reforms to prevent future controversies.

Prof. Elliot Alhassan, who chaired the event, encouraged the new executives to strive for excellence and work collaboratively to elevate UDS from its current fourth position in Ghana’s university rankings. He administered the oath of office to the new SRC/LNUGS executives, urging them to fulfill their duties with integrity and to implement policies benefiting the entire student body.

Outgoing Central SRC President HE Hussein Rukaya advised the new executives to consult university management in challenging times and assured them of her support. She also donated customized uniforms to the University’s Cadet Corps to boost their morale. Outgoing LNUGS President Mr. Issah Abdul Manan emphasized the importance of collaboration between SRC and NUGS for the collective benefit of students and the university.

New Central SRC President HE Bruce Kambout expressed gratitude to the student body for their confidence in him and his team, promising to enhance student welfare and ensuring cooperation with university management.

Representatives from GRASAG and IDCL also shared goodwill messages in support of the new executives. 

The old and new executives exchanged files and received citations in recognition of their hard work and dedication to the university community.

In closing, Prof. Alhassan advised the new executives to adhere to university regulations and encouraged the outgoing executives to serve as advisors. He also called on GRASAG to collaborate with the university and provide guidance to SRC/LNUGS. He wished the new executives a successful tenure.
