The family of gospel singer Jacob Yaw Mawulo Adjola, known as Jake, has urged the public to be mindful when sharing information about his death amid reports of a suspected suicide.
The news of the young music minister’s passing, a member of the non-denominational group Higher Praise Inc., gained significant attention on social media yesterday morning.
Discussions surrounding his alleged suicide have intensified on Facebook, particularly regarding a "sign-off" note he reportedly left behind since the news went viral.
Jake passed away on Sunday, just a day after performing as the lead singer for his group on Saturday.
Although Higher Praise Inc. confirmed his death in a Facebook post stating, "Jake sings with the angels now," they did not disclose the cause of death, which has fueled further speculation about suicide.
In a statement issued today by the family, signed by his sister Susan Adjola, it was noted that the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death and requested that the public refrain from sharing unsolicited information that could hinder the investigation.
“The police are currently looking into the matter, including the alleged letter and the accident, and we ask everyone to allow the investigation to proceed without interference,” the statement reads.
The family also indicated that the police will examine the alleged suicide note, revealing that he had been struggling with severe issues since 2022.
