More than 100 soldiers have been deployed to eliminate illegal mining activities from water bodies.

The government has dispatched more than 100 soldiers to eradicate illegal mining activities from water bodies and forested areas.

This operation is a collaboration with the Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners (GNASSM) and took place in the Eastern Region on Thursday as part of a broader initiative to combat illegal mining.

By midday on Thursday, the soldiers successfully seized and dismantled three chanfan machines used for gold extraction located along the Birim River banks in the Eastern Region.
