A tragic incident has devastated the Abrepo Asubonteng community in Kumasi’s Ashanti region, leaving residents reeling in shock and sorrow.
An 8-year-old boy named Kwaku was brutally killed by a man believed to be mentally unstable. Speaking on the Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9fm with Sir John, eyewitnesses shared that the man, thought to be in his 30s, had recently arrived in the community with his family.
The boy and his sister were sent on an errand to buy a plastic bag and encountered the man on their way back. Although his sister managed to escape, Kwaku was caught and fatally attacked.
Residents tried to intervene but were intimidated by the attacker, who wielded two sharp machetes. The police arrived but were initially unable to control the situation and temporarily withdrew. Tragically, this delay allowed the attacker to carry out his brutal act.
In a tragic twist, community members eventually gathered the courage to confront and kill the man. The bodies of both Kwaku and the attacker have been taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue.
