Eyewitnesses described the robbers advancing on the car with guns drawn, firing shots into the air to scatter the crowd. Vendors and shoppers scrambled for cover, ducking behind stalls as gunfire rang out across the market.
The attackers broke into the Toyota, seizing large bags of cash stored inside. Within moments, they loaded the money into their getaway vehicle and fled, still firing shots to keep people at a distance. Footage captured by bystanders quickly circulated on social media, showing the robbers’ rapid, organized actions and the fear that swept through the area.
Although the Ghana Police Service is yet to release details, the widely shared videos have sparked heightened concerns over security in the area.
