President for MOBA, Ebusuapanyin Moses Kwesi Baiden Jnr, has made a donation of GH₵111,100 to the team that won the recently organized 2024 NSMQ at Mfantsipim School. The donation is to celebrate the achievement recorded by the team and to ensure that further academic and scientific pursuits at the school are well supported.
Of this donation, GH₵50,000 was given to the headmaster of the school and to the four NSMQ team coordinators for their commitment and leadership. It also gave GH₵15,000 each to the three contestants who represented the school in the competition, amounting to GH₵45,000, to be used for their education. Others are 14 other members of the team who supported the quiz including researchers who all received GH₵1,000 each amounting to GH₵14,000. Three drivers who supported them were also given GH₵700 each amounting to GH₵2,100.
The ceremony was held at the Margins ID Group Office as Mr. Baiden Jnr, who is also its Chairman and Founder, hosted the National Executive Committee of MOBA and the NSMQ team for the successful win in appreciation of their hard work that culminated in this great win.
Mfantsipim School was declared the winner in the 2024 NSMQ in a keen competition, winning with a single point against St Augustine's College. This made it the third NSMQ title for the school after earlier victories in 1999 and 2014. The winning team took home gold medals and an amount of GH₵70,000.00 as their prize.
Mr. Baiden Jnr. explained that a pride in this victory was shared by the MOBA community all over the world through a contribution made on a voluntary fund-raising basis by members. He reiterated funding in a sustainable manner as the surest way to create an enabling environment that can raise successive crop after crop of students who can excel in academics, particularly in areas of Science and Mathematics. The MOBA NEC is working on long-term strategies to support the school's development and ensure future success.
Mr. Baiden Jnr, who spoke at the event, said MOBA and Mfantsipim School should always have a solid and sustainable partnership in the quest to offer quality education to create future leaders. He admitted that as prevailing competition in the education sector had become increasingly aggressive these days, Mfantsipim needed to continue offering excellent education for which the school had come to be known over the past 150 years.
Looking ahead, Mr. Baiden Jnr announced that MOBA was developing a strategic business plan, including the improvement of NSMQ preparation, putting up facilities for sporting excellence, and an endowment fund. The organization is equally digitizing old student networks and deepening the connection with the Methodist Church.
In addition, the three NSMQ winners were made brand ambassadors for Mfantsipim School's 150th anniversary celebration running until 2026. Various year group presidents of MOBA promised to make some financial contributions towards future NSMQ teams. These announcements are expected to be formally made at the school's Speech and Prize Giving Day this Friday.
This was followed by a celebratory lunch courtesy of the Margins ID Group, and keeps reiterating that MOBA is committed to the growth of the school and success of the students.
