Prez Akufo-Addo Unveils Statue in Sekondi, Praises Achievements Despite Ongoing Project Delays
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo unveiled a statue of himself at the entrance of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, as part of his one-day "thank you" tour of the Western Region.
According to the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, the statue was put up to appreciate the president for his various development projects in the region. These include the rehabilitation of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, the construction of the 3-tier Sinohydro interchange, and redeveloping the Takoradi Market Circle.
Some of those projects have not been completed; others are even at a standstill.
President Akufo-Addo, while addressing residents in Takoradi on Wednesday, November 6, 2018, took the opportunity to boast of his achievements since he came into office, saying 80% of the promises he made to Ghanaians before coming into office are being implemented.
He urged the electorate to use electoral supports for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the impending election, arguing such would ensure the continuance of his administration's initiatives.
The president also touted the Free SHS policy as his biggest legacy, given the transformational effect it has had on the nation's education system.
