Ghanaian musician Safo Newman has disclosed that he has been advised by some individuals to use illicit substances to enhance his confidence during stage performances. However, the 'Akokoa' hitmaker remains firm in his decision to stay true to himself and avoid anything that could compromise his principles.
"Some people have suggested that I use drugs to go wild on stage, but I won’t do that. It’s not something I see myself doing," Safo shared during an interview on Hitz FM with Andy Dosty.
Addressing criticism of his calm stage demeanor, Safo explained that many fail to understand and appreciate differences in personality traits, particularly his introverted nature.
Since gaining fame with his hit song 'Akokoa' earlier this year, Safo has faced backlash over his understated stage presence and sense of style. Acknowledging these criticisms, he assured fans that he is actively working on improving his stagecraft while continuing to create music that not only entertains but also delivers meaningful and thought-provoking messages.
In addition to 'Akokoa,' Safo Newman is known for songs like Miss Isabella, Sorrow Fly, March Past, and All the Way. He recently released a peace-themed track titled NPP, NDC.
