The current phase covers districts such as Oforikrom Municipal, Asokwa Municipal, Nhyiaso Sub Metro, Afigya Kwabre South, Afigya Kwabre North, Suame Municipal, and several others. Earlier phases included districts like Ejura Sekyere Odumasi, Mampong Municipal, Sekyere Afram Plains, Offinso North, and Ahafo Ano South West, among others.
Participants are trained in key ICT skills, including coding, website design, social media management, internet safety, game development, and animation. This year's global theme, “Leadership,” underscores Ghana’s commitment to empowering women and girls for leadership roles in the digital era, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 5 and the ICT4AD Policy. Since its inception in 2012, the program has reached over 13,981 girls and women nationwide.
Key Features of the Program:
- Teacher Training: 100 teachers from participating districts are trained to enhance ICT education delivery.
- Hands-On ICT Training: 1,000 girls across selected districts acquire practical digital skills.
- Mentorship: Women professionals in the ICT sector provide guidance and share their success stories.
- Awards Ceremony: The program concludes with prizes for the top 100 performers, including laptops, modems, and cash awards. Certificates are issued to all participants, and top schools receive ICT labs.
- Open Day in Accra: The top 100 participants visit ICT companies, Mobile Network Operators, and MoCD agencies to network with industry professionals and gain real-world exposure.
This impactful initiative continues to inspire and prepare young girls to excel in technology-driven careers and assume leadership roles on both local and international platforms.
