On 26th March 2025, the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) actively participated in the Women in Information Technology and Engineering Summit at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). Themed “Accelerating Change: Empowering Women Through Mentorship in Technology,” the summit brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and aspiring female professionals to address key challenges and opportunities in the tech landscape.
The event served as a crucial platform to advocate for increased female participation in technology and engineering fields. Discussions centered on mentorship as a catalyst for career growth, strategies for overcoming barriers in the tech industry, and the need for policy interventions to bridge the gender gap.
Hon. Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, delivered a powerful keynote speech, underscoring the importance of creating inclusive opportunities for women in the digital sector. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to fostering supportive policies and infrastructure that enable women to excel in technology careers. His address emphasized the role of education, mentorship, and industry collaborations in shaping a more diverse and equitable tech ecosystem.
Mr. Stephen Cudjoe Seshie, Acting Deputy Director-General of CSA, also addressed the summit, stressing that technology is neutral—it is how we use it that determines its impact. He encouraged women to venture into specialized fields such as blockchain technology, embedded systems, and cybersecurity, highlighting the importance of continuous learning and adaptability in the rapidly evolving tech industry. His insights resonated with attendees, inspiring them to explore niche areas and seek mentorship for career advancement.
The summit featured interactive panel discussions, networking sessions, and mentorship engagements, all geared towards equipping women with the knowledge and confidence to break barriers in the tech industry. With growing initiatives like these, the push for gender inclusivity in STEM fields continues to gain momentum, reinforcing the need for collaborative efforts to empower women in technology.
CSA’s participation in the summit reflects its dedication to building a secure and inclusive digital future for all, championing mentorship and skill development as pivotal tools for women’s success in the industry. As Ghana continues its digital transformation journey, fostering female leadership in technology remains a critical priority.
